June 26 Tuesday am, pm

good night, normal morning - resistance to shower/hairWash continues, helped Maggie out by taking active role and insisting that it be done, gave her a choice, now or later.

no Morris visit yesterday, typical Morris discussion last night before bed ...e.g., where is he? why is he there? etc.,....

pm report:
Morris came over for a visit
I have written Maggie's check, left in envelope for her to take on Friday, so no need for anyone to make a special trip for that ... Jackie's check is written for her, in envelope on desk ... I'll get Gwen's check to her tonight.

June 25 am

so-so night, many trips early on, then settled down ...

Helen's special chair was not being used when I first got here, I have begun reminding her to use it this weekend.

My departure is late on Tuesday 6/26 (10pm-ish). Tom and Dan have been informed. Tom was not sure of Eileen's arrival time, but knows that he and Dan fill the gap 'til she's here. Filling the gap will mean checking in on the helpers since we have full (24hr) coverage Monday thru Friday now.

Also told Tom that some meds need to be refreshed for week of July 1-7. He will call them in, inform Dan, who will pick them up.

Tom or Dan or ? needs to monitor coming/going of helpers. NOTE: should we have them check in/out with someone by phone?

I am hoping that Tom or Dan can drive me to the train station to get me there at 10:30pm.

Vic has just arrived for a visit.

Saturday June 23 8am

Helen slept well, thru the night.
Tried the chNoodle soup last night - not good, gonna stick with minestrone for now.
Morris visit improved Helen's mood greatly. He intends to visit again today, tomorrow.
Got some large-print reading material ...
I'm serving whole-grain toast in the morning, no complaints. It'll provide much more nutrition than the HealthyWhite.
Also serving 0-transFat cookies.
Applied a callus cushion to the bottom of Helen's foot, seems to help ... no rides to the b'room needed yesterday.
Our visiting angel Pam is just that ... definitely a keeper.

Friday 6/22 am report

9am
Helen was more out-of-it yesterday than I had seen before, probably due to lack of sleep the night before.
Helen slept well, thru the night last night.
Friday am, Noted to Maggie that swelling in right foot seemed to be way down, M agreed, says it does fluctuate.
A resistance to shower/hairWash has developed. We talked thru it, negotiated to move it to mid-day ... we'll see what happens.

The soup(minestrone) for dinner working very well. We plan to try chicken noodle tonight.

Helen is trying to read at night before going to sleep ... need to get her some big-print stuff to help her out on this.

that's it for now.

Thursday June 21

Last night was Gwen's 2nd night. Helen is having a hard time accepting a new person, per usual.

Gwen seems very capable, is very likable and wants to do good job. She will need some guidance in how to adapt to Helen's ways and desires - e.g., wants to sit alone, does not want to chit-chat, does not want someone in her bedroom at night watching over her.

Gwen is willing to take on more hours - e.g., 5pm to 8am M-F. I told her that it's possible that it could evovle to that, but for now, we'll stick with the Tues-Wed gigs for her, and adjust as needed as time passes.

Note on meals: Helen's appetite is best in the morning, tapers off as day goes on. A light dinner is all she wants. Pam offered soup the other evening and this worked out very well. Soup as a standard for dinner for now. I got some low(?)-sodium Progresso minestrone, this she likes. I'll try the chicken noodle next.

Another NOTE: need to get a tv into the bedroom for the overnights ... cable hook-up
